BOONE COUNTY TOURNAMENT 12.8.18 Over the weekend, the boys 7th grade basketball team won both of their games to become the 2018 Boone County Champions. Zionsville played Avon North in the semifinals of the NSC tournament Saturday in the most exciting game of the year. The Eagles got off to a slow start, down 7-0 after one quarter of play. Zionsville played Brownsburg West in the first round of the NSC Tournament last night, winning 70-38. It was an offensive first half for both teams, with the Eagles leading at halftime, 36-23. But Zionsville picked it up defensively in the fourth quarter, holding Brownsburg to only two field goals and winning the quarter by 15 points. Zionsville ended the regular season last Thursday, winning at Brownsburg East, 68-32. Zionsville got off to a good start, leading 13-9 after one quarter. An offensive explosion occurred in the second quarter, with 24 second quarter points to lead 37-22 at halftime. The Eagle defense closed it out, allowing only 10 points the rest of the game. Adam Melliere was in the zone from behind the arc, connecting on six 3-pointers in only three quarters, finishing with 21 points.
