Z'West at Clay 11.29.18 The ZWEST Eagles went on the road for the second of two road games this week to Clay MS. West found themselves down just two points going into the half down 20-22. Z'West vs Fall Creek ZWEST traveled to Fall Creek Tuesday night to take on the Falcons. In the first game of the night the Eagles would fall 27-43. West found themselves down by 11 after the first half but thanks to the defensive effort by Braylen Butterworth they would cut into that lead but it was not enough. Gm 1: ZWMS vs. Heritage Christian Z West went up against Heritage Christian in the first game of the Z West Shootout Tournament. West played well throughout and led for the entire game. ZWEST 7th grade went on the road for the second night this week and would pick up a good win over Creekside 51-35. Solid deffense plus a 21 point 3rd quarter helped the Eagles to pull away after only leading by 2 at the half. Aiden Helvie led all scoring followed by Edward Thomas who picked up 10 of his 12 in the second half. Ian Seward and Brock Maxwell each added 6. A Game: ZWMS @ Brownsburg East West had to come off of Winter Break to immediately travel to Brownsburg East and take on the very talented 11-2 Bulldogs. The first quarter was a tough one, with the only scoring for West coming on a Peyton Guider 3-pointer. The 2nd quarter was much better on both ends of the ball. The ZWEST 7th grade team traveled to Brownsburg East for their first game back from Christmas break losing 42-47. West came out flat in the first half and could not convert on multiple trips down the floor. The Eagles found themselves down 19 by halftime. A 23 to 10 run for the Eagles in the 4th quarter would close the gap to as much as 3 but late free throws down the stretch would help the Bulldogs close out the game. The ZWEST 7th grade team hosted Avon North last night in a game that would go to the end but find the Eagles down 34 to 39 in the end. Turnovers plagued the Eagles all night having 20 for the game. West closed the game to 1 after being down 10 to start the 4th but could not get a bucket to close out. Aiden Helvie and Seth Hogg led the team with 10 each. Ian Seward added 8 points on the night. In the first round of the Boone County Tournament ZWEST faced Western Boone. For the second time in just 3 days the Eagles would defeat the Stars 64 to 37 to advance to the Championship game. West faced a lot of foul trouble in the first half but continued to lock down on defense. In the first round of the Boone County Tournament, Z West played WEBO again. WEBO hung tough throughout the first half, with Z West actually going into halftime down by one point. West had a huge third quarter, outscoring WEBO 16-3 in the quarter including a big 3 pointer to end the quarter by Elliott Rossell. In the end, West hung on to win by a final score of 44-37.
