Zionsville improved to 8-0 on the year, after defeating Avon North, 43-37. The Eagles came out with suffocating defense in the first half, holding Avon to just 4 points in the first quarter, and took a 22-11 lead into halftime. Avon came roaring back in the second half to pull within one possession. But some timely shots, clutch free throws, and a few stops on defense secured the win for the Eagles. The one-two punch for Zionsville was at it again, scoring wise. Logan Imes hit from all around the court, scoring from two, three, and the free throw line to finish with 16 points. Adam Melliere connected on three 3's, to end with 15 points. Nate Horten had a strong 7 points and a huge defensive charge late in the game. Merrick Macaluso and Nick Richart had two free throws each. And Matthew Wleklinski hit one of two from the line to complete the Eagle scoring.
The Eagles play this Thursday at home against Hamilton Southeastern.
