The 7th grade Eagles were back to their winning ways last night defeating Creekside MS, by a score of 53-28. The Eagles struck early and often on offense, scoring 15 in the first, 14 in the second, and 14 more in the third. The Eagle defense forced an astonishing 11 turnovers in the first half and took advantage of it to go up 29-16 at halftime. The defense was even better in the second half, holding Creekside to only 2 baskets in the third quarter. Adam Melliere had a monster game leading the way with 25 points including 5 three's. Logan Imes played extremely well on both sides of the ball, and couldn't be stopped going to the rim, scoring 11 points. Merrick Macaluso had numerous offensive rebounds and post moves to finish with 8 points. And Nich Richart had 5 to go along with Nate Horten's 4. Michael Narva played excellent defense and forced many of the Creekside turnovers.
In the B game, the Eagles continued their hot streak, winning 43-17. The Eagles' defense was again at the center of the lead, holding Creekside's B team to only 2 field goals in the first half. The halftime score of 26-5 was the closest Creekside would get, as Zionsville finished off the game. Kade Langhorst scored 14 points to lead all scorers. Nick Firebaugh and Mac Clayton forced turnover after turnover and took advantage of them with baskets on the offensive end. Nick socred 9 huge points, and Mac had 6. Matthew Wleklenski had a few nice moves going to the hoop and was able to connect on three of them for 6 points as well. AJ Jacklin and Evan Huber hit 2 baskets each.
The Eagles head to Carmel on Thursday to take on the Greyhounds.
