In the first game of the tournament, Zionsville lost a heartbreaker, again in overtime, to Lebanon. It was a back and forth game but the Eagles were unable to hang on and make it to the championship game, falling 53-55. Adam Melliere led the Eagles in scoring with a gritty 14 points. Logan Imes had 9, and Nick Richart and Merrick Macaluso each had 8. AJ Jacklin provided a spark off the bench and ended with 7. Nate Horten chipped in 4 and Michael Narva finished with 3 to round out the Eagles scoring.
In the consolation game, Zionsville unleashed the hustle of their entire team, for a resounding 24-2 first quarter lead. Each player for both A and B got minutes as they sprinted out to a 58-19 win. Adam Melliere led the scoring, playing aggressive offense in the second half with 11 points. Logan Imes dominated the first half, scoring 9 points with suffocating defense. AJ Jacklin played another great game to finish with 8 points and Merrick Macaluso had 6. Sam Firebaugh, Matthew Wleklinski, Mac Clayton, and Nick Richart all had two points. Michael Narva and Evan Huber each hit a three. Kade Langhorst had 6 points and TJ Robinson had 4 to end the scoring. Nate Horten gave exceptional effort and Michael Krkoska also played excellent defense in the total team win.
The Eagles are back in action tonight at Lynhurst.
