West 8th Grade powers through Creekside behind big scoring night from Edward Thomas 1.8.19

ZWMS vs. Creekside

Z West came back from a long break to play against a talented Creekside squad. Creekside came out hot early, and before you could blink West was down by 7 points. However, thanks to an amped up defense and solid shooting, West would chip away at the lead and trail by just 3 going into halftime. At the beginning of the 3rd quarter, it was the Eagles turn to go on a run, starting the second half on a 7-0 run of our own to force a Creekside timeout. With West up, there was no looking back as the team would hold off a late Creekside run and ultimately win the game 42-38. Edward Thomas had a monster game with 20 points on 8/14 shooting. Ian Seward had 8, Will Nobbe hit both of his three-pointers and had 6 points. Ryan Luke and Brock Maxwell had 4 each. Seth Hogg got into early foul trouble and didn’t score, but his work on defense was exemplary. Lucas Louiso was finally healthy and able to play his first game of the season and also chipped in with solid defense and rebounding. West has a record of 9-7 this season and is looking for a 10 win season!

Next on the schedule ZWMS will travel to Brownsburg West on Thursday, January 10th in an A only matchup. The 8th grade game will start after the 7th grade game concludes. Go Eagles!

B Game: ZWMS vs. Creekside

The B team played a solid overall game against Creekside last night.  The team played strong defense and that was the difference in the game for the Eagles.  The B team was led in scoring by Cooper Elkins with 6 points followed by Evan Blackman and Connor Wood with 5 points each.  Everyone on the team scored, so it was a balanced attack.  Next game will be Saturday morning during the Z West Reserve tournament to be played at home.

Go Z West!
