Z'West 8th Grade Eagles run away with season opener over Avon North 52-29

For our first official game of the season Avon North Orioles visited our house. West was able to come out hot and firing on all cylinders, closing out the first quarter 21-3. The Orioles did not go down without a fight and made it interested going into the fourth quarter only down by 15. West was able to snuff out any attempt to come back with a final score of 52-29. The scoring was led by Jameson Laughlin with 20 points on the night. Following Jameson, Tyler Neal contributed 10 points. Jackson Carr and Case Anderson both put up 7 points. Deacon Powell contributed great defense and 4 points and Simon Wilkinson and Chris Cortopassi rounded off the scoring both with 2 points. 

 

Our second game of the night started a little slower but West found their stride and went into half time only down by 1. With some hard work and grit, West found themselves with a last second layup provided by Lincoln Belser to tie the game up before the buzzer. In OT, West found their sweet spot and pulled ahead to beat the Orioles, 43-39. Chris Cortopassi led the team in scoring with 16 points. Jake Cero contributed 10 points, Lincoln Belser, along with his buzzer beating layup to put us into overtime had 6 points on the night. Jacob Collier had 5 points, Michael Loya had 4 points and Noah Almeida contributed 2 points along with being an impact the whole game.
