Battle for the Nest Championship
Game 1 was a rematch of the Boone County tournament where West lost in the championship game. With a chip on their shoulder, West executed their game plan and came up big against Middle in the Battle For The Nest winning 53-47. It was a team effort the whole way with many guys contributing in different ways. The team as a whole worked diligently to stick to their game plan and cheer each other on to the victory. Jameson Laughlin, Tyler Neal, and Simon Wilkinson led the way offensively with Laughlin having 15 points, Neal having 14, and Wilkinson having 11 with clutch free throws down the stretch. Sean Myers contributed 6 points and great poise and determination. Along with Sean, Deacon Powell and Case Anderson brought 3 points a piece to the table but helped big time with winning the rebounding column of the game. Jake Cero contributed 1 point but quick energy from Cero would help keep the momentum. West would never lose the lead and take the dub in the Battle for the Nest.
Game 2 started slow but West showed resilience going into half time up by 3. Unfortunately, the push was not enough as West would fall to Middle, 54-48. West was led in scoring by Jake Cero with 17 points, following him was Jakob Collier with 12 points all coming from downtown, then it was Ben Gehan with 9 points also all coming from downtown, Chris Cortopassi contributed 8 points, and Lincoln Belser brought 2 points but some good defense and good passing from him. The Eagles are back in action at home vs Brownsburg East after break.
